Allwood Sails in Sydney make custom spliced halyards, tack lines, sheets and other ropes for skiffs, dinghies and yachts for $100 per hour on top of supplying the rope.

Allwood Sails use and sell LIROS ropes. We mostly use D-Pro, a single braid SK75 Dyneema and Magic Pro, a dyneema cored, polyester covered, double braid rope that is readily tapered.

We sell rope by the metre and at a discount for a 100m spool.

Our best value rope is LIROS D-Pro 3mm for $2.5 per metre and 4mm for $4 per metre.

For easier tapering, we sell LIROS Magic Pro 4mm for $4 per metre, 5mm for $5.5 per metre, 6mm for $7.5 per metre and 8mm for $13.5 per metre. This is obviously not the cheapest rope around so I suggest you consider your needs and the alternatives before choosing this option.

For example, this is great stuff for a 505 or Flying Dutchman spinnaker sheet which doubles as a brace where stretch is critical and a tapered rope is very nice. However on my 12 foot skiff spinnaker sheet I use LIROS Nautic which I sell for $1 per metre. Archie Massey and Dan Wilsdon, the current I14 world champions also use this light, economical option which floats and does not absorb water. Great stuff.
